A hidden gem
So small you could drive across it in an afternoon and so vast you can take a different route every time you visit: Montenegro will never cease to amaze you!
This country, nestled between the crystal-clear Adriatic Sea and the shadows of the Dinaric Alps, is the perfect backdrop for a bikepacking ride you won’t forget! Montenegro literally means “Black Mountain”, and while it’s the smallest country in Europe, it’s also the most biodiverse: a hidden gem boasting fairy-tale landscapes. Five unique National Parks protect these fragile ecosystems. And while the black mountains paint the edges of Montenegro, there’s much more to discover: verdant ridges, blooming highlands, turquoise rivers, dark gorges, karst fields, and rich cultural heritage. Embrace the beauty of the Balkans.
This is an adventure like no other. Forget everything you already know and push your boundaries to discover the fierce, untamed terrain of Montenegro’s mighty Mountains. Can you handle the Madness?

Sve može: everything is possible
Mountains and sea in just a handful of kilometers? Even your wildest dream can become a reality in Montenegro: sve može, everything’s possible!
Sve može works in two ways. It’s first individual confidence – locals joke that even if they’ve never flown an airplane, how hard could it be? They could surely do it! This confidence opens their heart to any request or idea: a natural predisposition to say “yes”. The answer is yes. Now, what was your question again? They can surely make it happen!
In Montenegro, everything’s possible.
Sve može is both the classic Montenegrin approach to life and a hint of their attitude toward guests. It embodies the spirit of overcoming obstacles and serves as a motivational mantra, highlighting the country’s perseverance, strength, and optimism. Sve može is also part of the deep Montenegrin hospitality: they genuinely care! Sve može. Let’s turn your dreams into reality.

Samo polako: the shepherd’s secret
While this expression is not the easiest to translate, it’s easy to understand (especially for adventurers!). Samo polako is an invitation to slow down and put worries aside: take it easy.
Montenegrins have historically valued people and relationships over frenetic lifestyles and have transformed samo polako into a philosophy. There’s no need to worry: focus on the bright side. Sit here with us and have a coffee.
This optimism and feeling that everything will be solved (no need to panic!) is also fueled by the strong community support developed through time: neighbors and relatives would show up on a specific day to help manage stressful times and difficult tasks.
How does this reflect on bikepacking?
Decompress, enjoy the mountain air, soak up nature, and focus on the here and there. There’s no reason to hurry behind the wheel if you can ride your bike around Montenegro – and live a little bit more samo polako! Fill your eyes and heart, there’s no place like this.

Land of katuns
The shepherd tradition holds enormous cultural value in Montenegro. Their semi-nomadic lifestyle, with seasonal migrations between summer and winter pastures, has forged their resilience, self-sufficiency, and a profound connection with nature.
Montenegrin katuns (mountain huts) are central to this nomadic lifestyle and can be found almost everywhere along the route! The shepherds’ tradition of moving up in the northern mountains during summer is still very much in use and holds a special place in the country’s cultural heritage. And while the lifestyle has certainly changed through time, the traditional knowledge and skills are passed down through generations.
Montenegro’s wild spaces are home to some of the most hospitable people you can meet: locals are incredibly generous hosts and welcome adventurers with open hearts. Even up in the most remote mountain stretches, you can expect friendly greetings and a genuine interest in your journey. You’re never too far from being invited for a coffee.
